How to spend my day in nyc on my friends birthday?

we live in long island but are in the city a lot of the time, so for my two friends birthdays we want to spend some of the day in the city. We aren't looking for anything really ';touristy'; but cant think of anything but going to crumbs bakery... :-/

You should spend the day in Manhattan. Go to a Broadway musical. Or get lost in F.A.O. Schwarz.
Pack a pic-nic and have lunch in Central Park and people watch......or if that's not your bag.....just walk 5th ave. and the Avenue of the Americas and window shop.....have a martini and just chill.
Well if you like rice pudding...YEA rice pudding (its really good) then you should go to Rice To Riches. But maybe if u just want dessert then you should maybe go to Serendipity. For a restaurant for lunch or dinner stop somewhere on 5th avenue [:
