How to practice for a lifeguard swim test?

I haven't swam on a team in about 6 years and am taking a test for a lifeguard job in about 2 weeks. I have to swim a 500 (the first 200 in 3min30sec) and also tread with a brick for I believe 30 sec-1min. How do I practice to get in better conditioning for the swim? The speed is not an issue, its just maintaining my endurance. How to practice for a lifeguard swim test?
Just get in the water and practice swimming the 500 today and see how long it takes you. Each day try to get better and see how long it takes you. As for the brick try getting an empty milk container and filling it with water and swimming from one side of the pool to another. How to practice for a lifeguard swim test?
In two weeks....it doesn't give you much time. You need to get into the water on a daily basis and try to swim longer in your workouts by five minutes every three days. That will get your swim to around 20 minutes longer than it is right now and should provide the psychological boost you'll need when being pressed to perform in the testing.
