Is it ok to wash shoes in washing machine? How can I prove her it is not wrong?

My sister started fighting with me that why I am washing my training shoes in the washing machine. She said that the germs and dirt can be carried on our clothes and make us sick.

I wash them with anti bacterial. How can I prove to her that it is ok?Is it ok to wash shoes in washing machine? How can I prove her it is not wrong?
Nothing you say will convince her.

Remind her that the inside of the washing machine always has germs, towels have germs, underwear has germs, anything you put into a washing machine has germs already.

No one has gotten sick, yet, from any of those items. Are shoes any different? Is it ok to wash shoes in washing machine? How can I prove her it is not wrong?
It is important to wash your tennis shoes in only mahines with a rotating drum (commonly found at laundromats). Rubber tennis shoes can jam the agitator and damage the transmission in most common residential machines.

It is OK but I would not wash them with other clothes at least until they have been hand cleaned to remove the worst of the dirt and muck.Putting trainers in with other clothes can damage them even if they are put in a pillowcase or wash bag.It is unlikely a transfer of germs will occur but if you washed them to get rid of dog excrement for example there is a remote chance of cross contamination plus its not very nice. So wash them but wash them with your own clothes or seperately.
Yes I agreed with you it is extremely ok, but use a gauze to protect your shoes. After finish washing please run your machine one more time without load but with anti bacterial and let the cover open to dry up. It will help to eliminate the smell and as the same time it is taking care of the machine. Note you must wash them separately. Don't ever dry them in the sunshine unless you want to damage your shoes.
I like washing shoes together so they can dry together but

if germs and dirt carry on clothes from shoes then they would carry from

anything on the clothes too.. the soap and water kills germs to make sure

add some borax to the wash and make sure you dry shoes throughly in the sunshine

or dryer.
I wash my tennies in the wash machine all the time. and have for years.

Why should shoes have any more germs than any thing else you put in there?

You could have a vaginal discharge; almost anything and as the saying goes

It all comes out in the wash.

Wash machines are for washing and cleaning; Hot water and soap does the trick.

Ignore your sister, at least your shoes will be clean.
I dont know how you can prove it to her, but thats not true. Thats what the soap is for. To kill germs and stains, and to clean our clothing. My husband works underground and his clothes get greasy and grimey, and they dont hurt my other my clothes at all.....as long as I use a good soap....and I use GAIN liquid.*
If you are using some type of bleach alternative there is no worry of germs, however athletic shoes don't normally get that clean in washing machines, cause there is no scrubbing action for the shoes, which is what they need to get adequately clean.
It's a matter of being considerate to who you are staying with and going by acceptable guidelines for communal living. The washing machine is not made for shoes. Scrub your own trainers.
I wash my running shoes in the washer, they shrink a little but they are as clean as when I first got them. Wash you shoes ALONE though, not with any clothes or anything.
i wash my training shoes in the washing machine every few months but i do it seperately to my clothes
No, initially you must not settle on yourself
ok it wont do your shoes any good in washing machine but it should not transfer germs
Take 'em to a laundromat, and she won't say another word. Trust me.
you cant, shes right, wash them seperately
