I want to live in an apartment in NYC when I get out of college but I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to pay for it! How much does rent cost to live in the heart of the city and what kind of job would I have to get to pay for everything? I know I wouldn't need a car so that should save some money, right? If an apartment is to expensive, what about a house in manhatten or something? What kind of job would I need if I didn't go to college? Thanks. How much does it cost to live in NYC?

Like anywhere else, that all depends on WHERE in NYC you want to live. (The heart of NYC is a subjective description) But generally speaking it costs ALOT of money. In manhattan your average studio apartment CAN run you $3,000 a month, but not always. You don't NEED a car but I'm sure you'll want one. Sometimes it's nicer to drive than to take the train. It just all depends. Why not look at some real estate websites and figure out how much an apartment will cost you per year. Then you'll have a basic idea of what kind of job you'll need and how much you'll need to make.
By the way, it's not easy getting a job here, no matter what kind of education you have. AND owning a house here is murder in the millionth degree.
